It was a very cold fall day in Montreal. It was our only chance to reach the World Series. Ray Burris had pitched a brilliant game and the Expos and Dodgers were tied at 1, to decide the National League representive to the world series. In a controversial move, Steve ´Jolly´Rogers was sent in to relieve instread of the dominant releiver, Jeff Reardon. I was in the tenth grade and had my head glued to a radio while our teacher gave a math lesson. Rick Monday came up to the plate... and my heart sunk as he hit a home run that barely cleared the centre field fence. That was and forever will be Stormy Monday.
In 1994 a strike cancelled the season. The Expos were the best team in baseball.
We never got close again, and the writing was on wall. The strike destroyed baseball in Montreal.
Rest in Peace.
(Long Live the Expos)
I miss the expos alot. It is too bad that they never had a TV contract. If they did then I would have watched their games. I wish they were still in Montreal. I have been researching their history and I am very much interested in learning more about them
