THE world's major powers are close to agreeing a deal imposing sanctions on North Korea following its nuclear weapons test.
The US-written resolution would impose stringent United Nations economic and arms sanctions, but would not include military force. Following objections from China and Russia, the latest resolution does not include a blanket arms embargo on conventional weapons contained in an earlier version, but still bans weapons of mass destruction...
Just one question. Exactly what do they hope to accomplish with economic sanctions?
Update: Not that I'm advocating a military solution or anything. Obviously if the goal is to reduce tension, North Korea must be engaged in some way. If the goal is to look 'Bolton' tough, then maybe they should be sent to their rooms without dinner. I'll comment further this evening. In the meantime anyone wanting to throw in their two cents on what they would do, be my guest.
I know! I know!
How about we appoint a special delegation headed up by Clinton with full UN support to negotiate an honorable....
Sigh, well it would work if we had anybody sane in the White House or the UN,or in charge anywhere

I believe it may be too late for 'honorable' solutions. I'd take any kind of solution that doesn't involve mass starvation or nuclear warfare...or any war for that matter.
